A dream of lavender fields
Welcome to Purple Pastures Lavender Farm — Monterey County’s largest organic lavender farm. Purple Pastures is nestled in sunny Corral de Tierra, California, between Monterey and Salinas. John Steinbeck coined these hills, “The Pastures of Heaven,” quite appropriately, as their divine beauty and celestial charm radiate through our lavender fields.
Purple Pastures has lavender plants in six different varieties including our most popular options, Grosso and Provence, best known for their fragrant aroma and bright purple florets. All of our lavender is organically grown with the utmost care to ensure your satisfaction. We whole-heartedly support and practice environmental sustainability by using drip irrigation and recyclable packaging to ensure a better tomorrow.
Who We Are
Purple Pastures started as a family dream, and continues to be family-owned and operated today. Our lavender farm started in 1998, when Stan and Bette Wood planted thousands of lavender plants on their sunny hillsides in Corral de Tierra, California. They quickly got to work with production and planning, while their daughter, Allison, ran the sales office. Allison also developed and created new lavender crafts and recipes. Stan and Bette’s youngest daughter, Amy, created much of the company’s first website. Todd, Stan and Bette’s eldest child, designed advertisements and labels with his digital imaging skills.
What We Strive For
We are proud here at Purple Pastures to support women-owned and Hispanic businesses. We have a strong partnership with Harmony Farms, a woman-owned lavender company. For over ten years, we have outsourced our production to a Hispanic-owned business, and all of our production employees are Hispanic women.
Unfortunately, the lavender farm is not open to the public. However, you can enjoy our purple fields from afar by looking across the valley from Laureles Grade Road, or by the comfort of your own home, right here at our website.
Thank you for your interest in our product line and we look forward to personally welcoming you as part of the Purple Pastures Lavender Farm Family.
